Hi folks! I've been teaching part-time and doing this business thing for over a year now. It was around August of last year that I started a MeetUp group called Crafts & Cocktails. I was immediately contacted by the owner of The Fireside Lounge in Alameda, Super Sandy Russell, and asked to host Crafts & Cocktails in her bar. I emphatically agreed!
If you haven't checked out the Fireside, let me fill you in. Its super simple to get to, right off the Webster Street Tunnel from Oakland. With AC bus stops all along Webster and plenty of street parking this place is an easy neighborhood go-to for an after work happy hour. You can't miss if from the street with its name plastered on the north-facing exterior and classic neon sign hanging over the entrance.
The Fireside is the perfect neighborhood bar. Plenty of tasty beer in bottles and on tap, wine from Blacksmith Cellars (in Alameda) along with delicious signature cocktails featuring local distillery Hangar One vodkas and other St. George spirits. So as you can see, owner Sandy is all about supporting other locally run businesses.
This place is loaded with character and a touch of east coast charm from the worn brick exterior. When the weather is warm, the large front window slides completely open for that coveted patio ambience. Two vintage pinball machines and tons of art from local artists line the walls. Wander to the back of the bar to see the cozy fireplace facade, shelves stuffed with retro board games and most importantly the stage for live musical performances.
Its the perfect spot to hang out on a Saturday afternoon crafting with us over a freshly squeezed Greyhound or spicy Bloody Mary. Come join us this Saturday, September 17th for a how-to-Sharpie-paint lesson and bring a friend! Grab a ticket before they run out!
